An ornate and very moving war memorial
Sighisoara, from Camping Vila Franka
Sighisoara, our 2nd visit to this lovely town. (and birthplace of Vlad the Impaler) 31st May
Sighisoara is an old Saxon town
and the graveyard is completely German
Vlad, the origin of Dracula, was born in the yellow house on the right.
We drank beer here
Some impressive tiles
A view from Camping Vila Franka
a closer view of the citadel
Camping Vila Franka
This scene is typical of Transilvania
Another fortified Saxon Church
at a village south of Sighisoara, possiblyBradeni ?
This lady unlocked the church for us
The church loft. Each chest is/was owned by a family, into which they put supplies to withstand a siege. A sort of personal disaster recovery box.
and in need of some repair
4 storks
A sample of the road surface. Some roads were fine, and the EU is putting in a great deal of cash to build roads, but some were even worse.
Sibiu - City of Culture 2007. 4th June. 3 years ago this square was largely derelict ...
... the transformation has been magnificent
